I’m in your city

It’s 9pm and I’m in an Uber on my way to Mayfair because my friend called to say he’s in town. He was like, “Oh yeah, I’m on my way to London.” Funny thing is, I was literally in London two weeks ago.

When he first called, I assumed he just wanted to gist for a bit. We ended up talking for almost 30 minutes and somehow, by the end of it, we had agreed to hang out that evening.

The next thing I knew, I was standing up, getting dressed, and heading out to a place to chill when I was practically already in bed before the call came in.

But I think that’s what friendship is sometimes. Spontaneity.

It’s being able to do something you absolutely did not plan to do without it feeling like a chore. Most times, there’s excitement attached to it. Sometimes you need a little push. Sometimes you complain a bit before you go. But somewhere deep down, you already know that by the end of the night, you’ll be glad you came out.

And honestly, I’m grateful for that.

Grateful for every “I’m in your city” text or call I get.
