… On doing difficult things

Figured out why I’ve been bored with life.… feeling lost.

When you play a game and it seems too easy, it gets boring. When it seems like you’ve gotten to the peak of the game, you get bored.

What do you then do? you either quit the current challenge and go for another, or you switch modes. Go for a different or harder challenge.

Or you drop off games completely… but when it’s analogous to life, you can’t drop off so that’s not an option (at least for me).

Now back to my life…

When you’ve chosen a certain career field and you’ve done what needs to be done, you get bored.

Chose to do marketing and done the heck out of it. All facets.

My last challenge was PR and now I’m pretty good at it.

(Took me forever to hire someone for the day-to-day running of the role because I was looking for someone better than myself and just couldn’t find. Interviewed practically everyone in the field in the Nigeria).

Anyway, I’m back where the game is boring and I need to find a new challenge.

Used to have a lot of ideas of things I’d like to implement but I never had the time. For some reason, none of those exist.

Can’t figure out what else I could be doing.

Well… couldn’t.

Was speaking to a friend on how to get ideas and the solution we aligned on was simply writing things down.

so it’s day 1, and I have one idea. Came up during the day but pretty viable because I’ve nurtured it for years. Maybe I’ll finally do it, or maybe I’d keep filling my note with ideas.

Anyway, the act of finding a new game is fun in itself so I’m enjoying this ride.

An aside, I’ve picked up and dropped data science for the past 7 years. Perhaps this is the year I’ll finally learn it well enough to stop bugging my data team for insights. Maybe that’s the hard mode I need in the mean time.

____

Picked up the piano again and learning to play on other scales beyond C Major. Using more of the black keys. Progressing beyond easy mode.

Should become a much better swimmer in Q1 2024. Learn proper breathing techniques and just swim properly.
