what if nobody knows?

I was reminded I hadn’t posted in my blog in a while so I’m going to do a dump of random thoughts in my Apple notes. Here’s the first. 

I like the concept of imitation. It forces you to buy things because you really like them and not because you want to show off.

When I started making money and started buying nicer things, and I’d see imitated versions of them, I’d go in my head, “Do they know my shoes are Gucci?” lol.

The good thing is that the prevalence of this made me get over this ego pretty quickly. And yeah, I’m grateful for that. The ability to buy luxury because I want it and it makes me feel good, and not because people can identify it.

I guess it’s the same ego I’ve been thinking about when it comes to giving.

Last week I did a giveaway and the facilitator asked if I wanted to be anonymous. I said yes.

I’m training myself to give without the inner reward of thank you. I like to think I give without thinking of receiving, but man, I love the thank yous. And now I’m training myself to be able to do without them.

Maybe there’s something freeing about doing things that feel good without needing anyone else to know you did them.

Or do I really have to?
